Shadow Teacher

Learning at a mainstream school setting can be challenging for students with Special Education Needs (SEN) such as ASD, ADHD, a Specifc Learning Disability, behavioral issues etc. A shadow teacher is a professional that can help fll in the gaps during the learning process,help build self-confidence and promote positive interactions through providing one-on-one support in theclassroom. It promotes optimal learning for students during mainstream schooling.


How does it work?

Step 1 An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) regarding different developmental areas such as language ability, social skills, cognitive development, behavior etc., will be determined by specialists after assessments.
Step 2 The Shadow Teacher will protect the student’s personal safety while carrying out the treatment goals and keep a record of the student’s performance.
Step 3 The observations and progress at school will be regularly reported to our specialists to aid session planning during intervention on top of updating the parents.
Step 4 IEP is reviewed and renewed after each semester.The intensity andduration of support from the shadow teacher is also reviewed regularlyto promote increasing independency ofthe student.

Together a Shadow Teacher + IEP at SpeechUp aim to:

  • Allow the student to follow regular classroom instructions in group setting.

  • Allow natural interaction with his/her peers.

  • Allow the student to receive educational enrichment.

  • Allow universal understanding and practice between the school, home, and clinic environment to promote improvement at different settings.

在主流的学校环境中学习对有特殊障碍的学生来说是一个挑战,比如自闭症、多动症、特殊学习障碍、行为问题等。影子老师是一名专业人士,可以帮助填补学习过程中的空白,帮助建立自信,并通过课堂上的一对一支持让学生更积极地互动,提高学生在主流学校的学习效果。

如何运作:

1 由专家根据不同的发展领域,如语言能力、社交技能、认知发展、行为等进行评估后,确定个性化教育计划(IEP)。
2 影子老师会在执行治疗目标的同时保护学生的人身安全,并记录学生的表现。
3 在学校的观察情况和治疗进展将定期报告给我们的专家,以帮助在干预期间指定课程计划,并向家长通报最新情况。
4 个性化教育计划(IEP)在每学期结束时会进行审查和更新。影子老师在学校的支持强度和时长也会进行定期评估,帮助培养学生的独立性。
